Four Poster Beds

What do traditional four poster beds look like? They are massive wooden beds, with a total of four columns in each corner of the bed. Those columns support an upper panel, which is also made of wood. The wooden panel helds a curtain, which falls down to the floor. This kind of bed filled a specific task- it offered privacy.

Four Poster Beds

The bed was designed for kings and queens. At that time there were no locks on the doors and anybody could come into their room and discover the naked king and queen. It would have been embarrassing, and also a great shame. Due to that four poster beds were invented.

Today, we don’t need such function from a bed, because we have locks and other resources that will help us to maintain the privacy. However, such beds are being used again. Occasionally the old styles become popular, and it’s the same with poster beds. People will not use these beds, because they offer us privacy, but because a long time ago kings and queens slept in these beds. It is the feeling that you get from sleeping in antique beds.

This bed is very similar to the canopy bed and there isn’t a big difference between them. Four poster beds are massive and with many little details- they are royal. Canopy beds are modest, but have the same functions and features.
